Inspired by American Psycho: Patrick Bateman Football Shirt
Celebrating Bret Easton Ellis' controversial satire on the excesses of eighties capitalism, and the classic film based on his novel starring Christian Bale, we present a football shirt inspired by American Psycho. The embroidered badge name-checks the building in Manhattan where the story's protagonust lives: the American Gardens Building on West 81st Street. It also features an image of the Manhattan skyline. The main shirt sponsor is Pierce & Pierce; the investment bank where Bateman works, below which the strapline "Mergers & Aquisitions" contains exactly the same typo as all the business cards shown in the film. The "Mergers & Aquisitions" text is also subtly overlaid with additional scrawled text to spell "Murders & Executions", referencing Bateman's bar conversation.
The sleeve sponsor is the logo of Dorsia, the exclusive New York restaurant that Bateman consistently fails to get a reservation at, whist under the white collar of the shirt is a hidden blood-splatter pattern. On the rear, the name "Bateman" is again subtly overlaid with text reading "I simply am not there" (one of the most famous quotes detailing Patrick's lack of identity, empathy, and reality), and the number 87 (complete with knife-sharp bottom) references the year that the film is set.
PLEASE NOTE: WE GET NEW STOCK OF THESE SHIRTS PRINTED ON AN ONGOING BASIS, SO IF YOUR REQUIRED SIZE IS CURRENTLY OUT OF STOCK PLEASE ORDER YOUR CHOSEN SIZE LISTED AS "PRE-ORDER - AWAITING STOCK".
