Inspired by Paul Verhoeven's 1997 cult sci-fi action film, which doubles as both violent action-movie and biting social commentary & satire, Starship Troopers. Our football shirt design's all-over pattern features the eagle from the United Citizen Federation flag, whilst the kit itself is based on the training uniform of the Mobile Infantry. The embroidered badge is modelled on the Mobile Infantry wings insignia, with the name "Roughnecks" being the unit that Johnny Rico joins and eventually leads. At the bottom of the badge is the Infantry motto: "Everyone fights, no one quits". The shirt's front sponsor is the Federal Network; the TV news show that appears throughout the movie.
On the rear of the shirt is the name Rico (for Johnny), above which appears the flag of the United Citizen Federation, whilst below the name is MI34-95: Rico’s soldier number. The number seven on the back is taken from Rico's short number when he plays Jump Ball.
