Inspired by Black Sabbath: Geezer Butler Football Shirt
Introducing the Birmingham War Pigs, whose embroidered badge features typography inspired by the 1970 album "Paranoid", and our rendition of Birmingham's mechanical bull, Ozzy—named after Ozzy Osbourne himself. The kit features a repeated Henry pattern design. Henry, the flying devil emblem used by Black Sabbath, was originally "stolen" from a festival poster in the 70s, according to the band's own Geezer Butler. We chose colours that echoed the 1973 album cover for "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath".
Also a nod to "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" is our main sponsor, the number 666 as styled on the album's artwork. On one sleeve, we have a "Sweet Leaf" logo, with typography inspired by the album "Master of Reality" on which the song appears. The other sleeve bears our version of Black Sabbath's iconic gas mask artwork. The shirt features the number 70 for the first official release under the Black Sabbath name, and the name Geezer for the band's bassist and primary lyricist. The kit is complete with a trio of smoking angels; their appearance is adapted from the original vintage photograph that inspired the band's "Heaven and Hell" album artwork.
