Inspired by The Hunger Games: Katniss Everdeen Football Shirt
We've taken inspiration both from the film franchise and the original book trilogy for our Hunger Games-inspired football shirt. The shirt itself is loosely based on the jackets worn by the tributes during their time in the arena of the 74th Hunger Games. In tribute to the more out-there fashion in Panem's Capitol, we've given this shirt a subtle statement collar.
The embroidered badge is our reimagining of the District 12 emblem.
Our main sponsor pays homage to Katniss Everdeen's moniker "Girl on Fire", given to her after her costume erupts into flames during the tribute parade ahead of the games. On one sleeve, we show our respect for that costume's creator, Cinna, with some imagined branding for his clothing line. On the other sleeve, we're bringing the shirt back to District 12 with a distressed retro diner-style logo for Greasy Sae's (Guaranteed Fresh Hot Soup) situated in District 12's black market, The Hob. In the film franchise, it is Greasy Sae who gives Katniss her famous mockingjay pin.
The pin itself is featured subtly beneath the collar at the back of the shirt. Its subtle appearance is a nod to the way Cinna hides it on Katniss' jacket before she enters the games. At the bottom, we have the phrase, "May the Odds Be Ever In Your Favour." This phrase is said first by Effie Trinket during District 12's reaping.
Our Hunger Games-inspired shirt is made complete by the number 12, and 'Everdeen' in honour of our victor, the Mockingjay herself, District 12's Katniss Everdeen.
