Presenting our football shirt paying tribute to the genius of Peep Show. The all-over pattern takes inspiration from the show’s iconic “eye” motif, whilst the main sponsor, JLB Credit, is the corporate employer of Mark Corrigan for much of the series.
The embroidered badge features the name “Red Team”, the condescending term Mark uses to describe Liverpool FC. The badge detailing includes two slices of toast (“Brown for first course, white for pudding. Brown’s savoury, white’s the treat…”) and a toilet roll, referencing the show’s frequent bathroom-based humiliations (“Is that normal pooing, Mark?”).
The club motto, “Consultio / Consultius”, stems from the doomed start-up created by Mark and Johnson after the collapse of JLB Credit, when Johnson makes an executive decision to use both names on the business cards.
On the rear of the shirt is the name “Hans” for Super Hans, and the number 5, referencing Flat 5, Apollo House, Croydon. The sleeve sponsor nods to Hans’ career advice to Jez: “You get a van, Jez, we could be men with ven”, while the strapline below comes from Hans’s explanation of why stolen chocolate tastes so good: “The secret ingredient is crime”.
The slogan on the other sleeve captures the vibe of The Big Beat Manifesto, the stolen track Jez and Hans pass off as their own: “Big beats are the best, get high all the time”.
