Inspired by Manic Street Preachers: James Dean Bradfield Football Shirt
Our Manic Street Preachers-inspired Generation Football Club kit draws its aesthetic loosely from the distressed t-shirts worn by the band during their iconic Leicester Square photoshoot. The embroidered badge is reminiscent of Richey Edwards' rose tattoo as featured on the Generation Terrorists album cover, from which our fictitious team gets its name.
The main sponsor, "Everything Must Go" (after the Manics' fourth album), is styled after branding you might see during a closing down sale, distressed to match the shirt. On the sleeves, we have some of Manic Street Preachers' iconic lyricism. Firstly, from the 1998 song "If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next": 'So if I can shoot rabbits then I can shoot fascists' styled in Gill Sans with a backwards R, as is so often used by the band themselves. Then, on the other sleeve, from "La Tristesse Durera (Scream to a Sigh)", the lyrics 'scream to a sigh, to a sigh' in a circular motif around an orange daisy, calling back to the song's single cover.
On the back, in a style that echoes the band's original, and now current, logo: Bradfield 86, for lead vocalist James Dean Bradfield and the year of the band's formation. The design is made complete with a small red star detail on the back.
PLEASE NOTE: WE GET NEW STOCK OF THESE SHIRTS PRINTED ON AN ONGOING BASIS, SO IF YOUR REQUIRED SIZE IS CURRENTLY OUT OF STOCK PLEASE ORDER YOUR CHOSEN SIZE LISTED AS "PRE-ORDER - AWAITING STOCK".
