Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I—also known as The Lady in Gold or The Woman in Gold—is an oil-on-canvas painting embellished with gold leaf by Gustav Klimt, created between 1903 and 1907. The work was commissioned by Adele’s husband, Ferdinand Bloch-Bauer, a Jewish Viennese banker and sugar manufacturer. This painting the first of two representations of Adele painted by Klimt.
