Inspired by Animal Farm: Boxer Football Shirt
Our football shirt for Animal Farm FC (Formally Manor Farm FC), inspired by George Orwell's 1945 novel parodying the Russian Revolution and subsequent descent into a dystopian state. The embroidered badge is influenced by the badge of the Soviet Union football team, with the hammer and sickle replaced by the animal's own flag featuring a hoof and horn on a green background. The shirt is printed in deep red, with a large image of the farm's windmill in the background.
The main shirt sponsor is Alfred Simmonds, the horse slaughterer and glue boiler, who takes Boxer for slaughter when he becomes injured and unable to work. On the left sleeve, the sponsor is the Red Lion Public House in Willingdon, where the human farmers will meet to discuss business. On the opposite sleeve appears the commandments of the farm, with the older ones ("no animal shall kill another animal") subtley changed ("no animal shall kill another animal without cause"), until all are superseded with the mantra "all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others".
On the rear of the shirt is the same "Boxer" (for the carthorse, and metaphor for the hard-working proletariat in the Soviet Union) and the number seven (for the original seven commandments of Animalism). Above these are the words "Beasts of England" (the revolutionary song sung by the farm animals before and during the revolution), and at the bottom of the back is an image of Old Major's skull, which becomes an object of reverence in much the same way as Lenin's preserved body did.
This shirt has been produced by Sigur Sportswear exclusively for RedMolotov.
