Arkell v. Pressdram (1971) T-Shirt Sale
An opportunity to, in legal parlance anyway, display profanity on the front of your garment and yet be met with nothing but puzzled looks from all but those in the know. For the uninitiated, Arkell v. Pressdram (1971) comes from an exchange of correspondence between Retail Credit Manager of Granada TV Rental Ltd (Mr Arkell) and Pressdram (publisher of Private Eye magazine). Mr Arkell's solicitors stated that the amount of damages that their client would pursue for an alleged defamation "(would) be governed by the nature of your reply (to this letter)." Private Eye's response... Well, look it up if needs be.
